Heather loves right now! ~ Birdy

Birdy is a new British artist who I really love. Her music is so smooth and delicate. But there's a feeling of power, love and maybe a little pain.
Perhaps you will get a different feel from her music if you hear it but it really stirs something inside me so I thought I'd share it!
Please enjoy!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I am beyond loving this! I am simply addicted!

There are only a few books I have ever read that I just can't bring myself to put down! Eating breakfast, lunch and dinner has involved only the sound of me chomping down food and turning pages. My family think I'm beyond rescuing!

I am a self confessed addict and will do anything to get the next book!

Suzanne Collins' Hunger game is beyond description!
Best book I've read yet!

Buy it.

That's all I've got to say! :)

What I've been reading! ~ Evermore by Alyson Noel

Alyson Noel is the author of countless novels for teens and this is the first book I have read by her.
It's called Evermore and it's the first in her Immortals collection. It's the usual type of book I read, I like fantasy but I've never really picked up a book about auras and mind reading psychics before!

But it surprised me by how much I enjoyed reading about how the main character; Ever overcomes her strange talents and falls in love with an Immortal beautiful young man, who has too many tricks up his sleeve.
Alyson Noel fills the book with so many twists and turns you can possibly put it down!
I LOVED it!

Calvin Harris' new one

Heather loves right now! ~ Cambrils Camping, Spain

Last week I was staying in Cambrils, Salou, Spain! I was staying with my parents, brother and aunt at Cambrils Camping site!
It is a high end luxury camp site which is among the top ten luxury camp sites in Europe!
Leave your umbrellas and water proofs at home dears because so long as you visit during the sizzling months of summer there is no weather problem and the mobile homes are not the hardly standing plastic boxes seen on British and Irish shores.
These are Hawaiian and Caribbean styled cottages!

I stayed in an Aloha (Hawaiian) cottage which was cheaper but smaller that the Bonita (Caribbean) cottages!

And the image bellow is a Bonita cottage!

I personally refuse to take a sun holiday in a cramped hotel since I began visiting luxury holiday campsites roughly six to seven years ago as a child.
The prices a re reasonable and countless British and Irish companies own and rent these cottages, such as Keycamp, Canvas and possibly Siblu... I'm not sure.

The pool complexs are brilliant too!

Although one thing I must say is that off peak the entertainment is a bit hit and miss, but at least they do something.
We visited very early you see, far earlier than we've ever dared to holiday and I admit it was disappointing compared to late June holidays...
Despite this even on off peak small children constantly have something to do
and during peak season teenagers are well entertained too!

I will religiously tell everyone that it's the place to go even though I'll be jealous that I can't go on holidays again for another year while others are busy getting ready for their fast approaching vacations!
:(

heather loves right now! ~ Busuu.com

^^^
that is the link to the site I am using right now to learn Spanish and Italian!
It's a bit confusing learning both at the same time, because they're so similar, I get mixed up every now and then.

But even though I get confused the site is brilliant! It's free and there is an option to pay to use the premium features but even without the premium feature you can learn so much! You get to hear the new words spoken. There is a section where you can write a short text about each course section, then there's a listening comprehension!
But my favourite part is that it has an app that lets you talk to native speakers of the language you are learning by not just typing but also using video and audio connections! :-)

It's just brilliant! It's my second day and I've learnt so much! :-)

Heather loves right now! ~ Rinascimento

Rinascimento is an italian fashion label that I love.

It is a clothing brand name produced and distributed by Teddy S.p.A. There are outlets worldwide and the clothes are beautiful!

http://www.rinascimento.com/collection/shopping-book11/

^ ^ ^ Here is a link to the Spring and Summer 2011 shopping book and the very first dress that you see is the one that sparked my interest in the line.
Its bright, summery and lush with bright and almost edible cherries here and there and a waist belt and gathering at the centre.
The dress cost 90 euro in the shop and as much as I wanted it I think I should get a job and buy my own clothes before decide to spill out for just one dress like that!

Anyway the entire collection is beautiful and simply delicious with loads of bold colours and fruit. But before you think it it's not over the top or anything. It is just right!

And it's not just their dresses that are gorgeous! Their jeans are devine and well within all the trends!
My favourite was a pair of aqua jeans I saw in the shop I was in! They were light denim because of the heat of Spain and Italy. I would have bought them gladly if it wasn't for the 90 euro price tag! :( Check out the Rinascimento jeans of the making on the website! :

Heather loves right now! ~ I.K.K.S

I.K.K.S fashion

The I.K.K.S fashion brand was started by Gerard Le Goff; a French man who wanted to invent an affordable but trendy fashion line for juniors, he wanted it to have plenty of bubbly personality and expression of youthful rebelliousness, which sets it apart from the existing simple and typically angelic fashion offered in the junior category at the time.

The I.K.K.S revolution began in 1987.

Unlike other designers and fashion chains I.K.K.S started with clothes lines for juniors and then branched out to the men and women fashion markets.

In 1999 the I.K.K.S women's collection was launched and it was born with just as much creative passion and zeal as the junior line before it!

In 2002 the first boutique was opened that was devoted to the women's range.

And finally in 2003 the men's collection was finally launched.

Why I love this!

I was in Spain this year, I was staying in Salou and went into Tarragona one of the days. We went into a beautiful clothes shop with dresses and jeans by so many designers! Nothing was cheap needless to say and I there was no way I was about to ask mam to buy me a 90 euro dress or 90 euro pair of jeans, no matter how sexy or perfect they were!
But one thing that I did pick up was the I.K.K.S mens Spring and Summer collection booklet. . . I know what did i get that for? Well... There were two absolutely gorgeous and sexy male models; one of them my favourite Leandro was just beyond words and I'm fairly sure he's the model in the picture above with   party written across it.
Anyway I looked into the designer and I love how it moved forwards and changed things. That's what fashions about making something better and different by expressing yourself!

Colour Blocking

Colour Blocking!

Colour Blocking is for the brave, bold and confident!
It has been a large trend on the runways this season and is when you take 2 0r 3 different colours and wear them all together!

Orange - Hot pink - Greens - Gold - Blues - yellows - purples - silvers - white - greys - even the darkest black! These are all colours used to achieve the colour blocking look.

As you can see the look is very striking and uses clashing to its advantage!
It takes someone pretty brave to pull of this wild look!

My favourite is the orange with purple look!
< In this picture the model in the second box from the left on the top is wearing warm toned orange and purple and it just looks lovely and warm! - I love the sort of rusty look to the orange!

Reminds of :

The 70's Because of how striking and bold it is! During the 70's a lot of the clothes seemed mad, wild and very unique! It was a time of a lot of self expression which often went well but other times did not!

But that is also one of the things about this look!
It is important to wear colours of similar tones, for example you would not wear:

Cold toned pink with :
an extremely deep warm toned blue

and warm toned trousers like in the picture above : the model in the bottom left is wearing colours whose tones clash heavily and it is barely over look only because the catwalk may sometimes produce pure madness that is accepted because it is pure raw expression:

It is the raw, fresh trend that has not yet been watered down to suit high street shops and to suit the everyday person.

So remember even though on the catwalk they can clash tones here and there, you really shouldn't..... Unless of course you want to stand out a lot.
The typical season we can expect to see this trend in, in the future:

Next year if this trend returns which i predict it will because of how it offers the opportunity to use bright and bold colours;
then I am sure it will return for the Spring and Summer just like this year!

This Trend is very beautiful when done right but it is one of the hardest things to acheive!

So remember!

Match your warm tones with warm tones and your cold tones with your cold tones just like with make up!

Enjoy!

Heather's fashion video! S/S 11 part 2

This is my second fashion video. I know they are low quality but they're the best I can do right now! Remember to always follow the trends that you like, not just the ones that everyone else likes! <3

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends part 5 - Stripes

Spring and Summer 2011 Fashion Trends
Part 5 : Stripes!

This blog covers :
                                > stripes and nautical fashion trends

Like most trends stripes is not just limited to dresses and tops.
Striped shoes, striped scarves, tights, cardigans, cuffs, details, trousers!

Everything!

Like years past Stripes has been a very important and prominent trend during the warm, laid back and relaxed summer months!

In past years the striped trend branched out to the sailor look or nautical look because stripes was a large part of that trend! Nautical however unlike stripes has rules when it comes to colours and patterns:

Mostly the colours are blue, while, cream and red. All colours that flatter one another.
Also there is the easily recognised symbol a nautical anchor, often on shoes, ear rings and breast pockets!

To wear stripes you must have an understanding of your body and the parts you want to emphasise and the others you want to be ignored or slimmed down.

Horizontal lines will widen and broaden. Horizontal lines along the bust is  a blessing for boyish, slim figures with very few curves and a small bust as well as pear shapes who are larger on the bottom than on top to balance out the figure.

If you have slim shoulders or want to make your shoulders look wider have stripes going across your shoulders!

If you want to lengthen your boddy then wear vertical stripes on your body and legs!

As always enjoy Spring and Summer 2011 and have fun expressing yourself through clothes! :D

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends part 4

Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Trends
Part : 4

This Blog will cover :

6o's Lady like, vintage

60's Lady like trend:

Last year and the year before we saw a lot of vintage looks, vintage shoes, skirts and dresses, cardigans, belts and jewellery and this year its back with more fine detail as well as simple cuts than ever.

Vintage clothing this year is very feminine and they flatter hour glass silhouettes very well but will flatter almost every shape except perhaps the apple shape if it involves a waist belt which is a major no, no for apple shapes.

* But remember that high street shops want to sell to everyone so there will be vintage styled clothing that flatter all body shapes.

But the most common pattern in vintage styled clothing is that it goes below the knee while still hugging the figure.
Offering class while still showing off the figure well.

http://www.alleycatvintage.com/en/ < this is a link to alley cat vintage clothing, an online store that sells genuinely vintage clothing from the 1800's to the 1970's!

Great if you want some truly vintage class!

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends part 3

Spring and Summer Fashion Trends 2011
Part : 3

This blog post will cover:

Biker and Punk

The Biker Trend and Punk trends:

Biker and Punk trends work hand in hand this year to express a rebelious attitude with plenty of studs, leather and rips.

The perfect recipe for the biker chick look is almost a harsh and boyish look that has a feminine twist on it.
Leather jackets with studs, quilting and decorations along with ripped jeans and denim jackets, ripped tights and ripped leggings are all members of the biker / punk family.

Punk and Biker are difficult to split into two different trends but the punk look is more of an influence over attitude and dress than a trend, it uses clashing colours and ripped clothing to be rebellious!

I personally love both trends!

Here is a great example of the leather jackets that have been hitting the catwalks and high street shops over the last two years. Despite being a trend before leather jackets have taken a fresh, harsher and more tom boyish look and made its way back into the bigger trend list for this year's Spring and Summer!

< < < Punk style.

As I'm sure you can see the two styles differ in few ways, both have a rebellious edge with ripped clothing and a tough look about them.
But my favourite thing about the punk look is it brings with it these tye-dye shorts and jeans like the shorts worn by the model on the left!

They're gorgeous!

Heather's Thoughts on ~ Tesco's Skin Boost Shower Polish Video! ! ! !

This is my first video so I'm sorry about how freaky and nervous I'm being!

Heather's Thoughts on ~ Tesco's Skin Boost Shower Polish

Last week my mam bought Skin Boost Shower Polish while she was shopping at Tesco's. I don't know if this product is very new or has just hit the shelves or anything but I thought I'd do a reveiw!

this is me, modelling the skin boost shower scrub! :P

Skin Boost Shower Polish is an in-shower scrub that gently exfoliates dead skin cells from the body.

It contains Pomelo and Olives. Pomelo is probably a fruit few of you will know well so I’ll explain!

It’s a citrus fruit from Southeast Asia and is normally light green or yellow when ripe.
It tastes like a sweet grape fruit but is normally larger than a grape fruit.

But the main fact is that like its relative the grapefruit the pomelo fruit contains sugars that help to scrub away dead skin cells! And on top of that it contains vitamin C which as we all know is good news for your skin, gums and teeth! Of course you wont be eating it so your gums and teeth wont benefit that much but your skin certainly will!

Along with Pomelo fruit this scrub also contains olives which contain vitamin E! Vitamin E is one of the nutrients that helps reverse and protect against the damage UV rays do the skin! Which is one of the main causes of Aging in Skin!

I used this scrub using a fluffy shower puff and immediately despite the lack of the large beads you usually find in a shower scrub or exfoliator the dead skin came away straight away – hmmm…. Maybe I had a LOT of dead skin and that’s why.

I found that this scrub really worked really well and left my skin soft and smooth all over. It smelled lovely and was well concentrated so I didn’t need to use that much!

I personally love love loved this product and will use it 'til the very last drop!

HEATHER'S RANDOM FACTS ABOUT....

Pomelo  fruit!

In the Philipenes the fruit's segments are cut and are dipped in salt before they are eaten.

In the town of Perak, in Malaysia pomelo is the fruit they are famous for and it is a very important part of their mooncake festival, which is an ancient lunar worshipping festival and moon watching when mooncakes are offered up to the moon! Pomelo are a popular snack at this festival and are eaten raw.

Pomelos come in two main varieties, the sweet green or white skinned ones and the bitter pink skinned pomelo which is rarely eaten and is normally used as a decoration.

In China people use pomelo in a ritual bath that is used to cleanse a person and repel evil!

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends part 2

Part 2 covers:

Lace trend
Crochet trend

The Lace Trend

The lace trend this year is pretty much just a continuation of last year's trend that was popularly known as 'Underwear on the Outside'. The aim of this trend and its suggestive name was to give women the opportunity to tastefully wear clothes with a sexy underwear hint to them with elegance and the main ingredient to this was the lace!

Whether it was a layer of light lace over a light material, lace cuffs, lace sleeves or lace scarves and necklaces it  was lace pandamonium and this year will be no different!
This year the trend has not lost any of its suggestive, sexy feel and will more than likely be just as huge as the bohemian trend that's blossoming too.

* Remember that it's not just limited to little black dresses or even just dresses! There are lace details on tops, cardigans, shrugs, skirts, shoes, handbags, jewellery, belts of all sorts even socks!
So don't be afraid to try different ways to carry this trend in your outfits everyday!
The Crochet Trend

Because of the bohemian and 70's influences on this year's Spring and Summer fashions a very different and brilliant type of style and material has been used on the catwalks and runways of the fashion world and that is Crochet!

Crochet is a process of fabric from yarn using a crochet hook. And some random facts about Crochet is that the first crochet pattern appeared in the Dutch magazine Pénélopé in 1824. And in the 19th century facing the  Great Irish Famine Crochet lace work was introduced as a famine relief as an alternative way of making money for the impoverished Irish workers.

I personally don't like this look in a full dress but in a cardigan or shrug the detail of the crochet weave can finish off any outfit.

More stuff in the next post! I'm so sorry I'm kind of busy so I'll post more another time!

Enjoy Spring and Summer!

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends part 1

I know there will be plenty of people trying to tell you what you should or shouldn't wear this year during the warm spring and summer months. You don't need to wear what everyone else is wearing.
But I want to share with you some of the 'trends' that are showing promise to be quite big this Spring and Summer!

Earth tones

Earth tones are warm natural looking colours inspired by nature. Like:

Copper
Tan
Khaki
Sand

A great example of a popular trend for Spring and Summer that uses a lot of these Earth tones has to be the Safari fashion trend which was a constant presence on the catwalk.

The Safari look is quite minimal in ideals but can be brightened up and glamorised with a few statement pieces of jewellery, handbags and light summer scarves.

There is a heavy inspiration of hot countries and survival. There is the idea of adventure in a rainforest so gold jewellery gives the idea of Mayan gold.

The safari has been big in past years and is bound to be popular in 2011!

The 70's

> Bohemian
> Sophisticated Glamour
>Crochet

Bohemian

The Bohemian look has to look laid back and sophisticated. A very popular, although predictable piece in this  trend is the Bohemian styled dress ~ the maxi.
Last year was a huge year for the maxi dress and this year it's popularity has not faded. The maxi dress may possibly be the most important piece in the summer wardrobes of most.

NOTE

It is a myth that the maxi dress should be worn just by the tall, boyish frames.
This frame is a model's frame, a model's job is to make the clothes look good. More often than not the natural  veluptuos girls with actual asses and breasts wont look the same as the tiny, six foot supermodels that spring down runways.
So...
Maxi dresses like all dresses, tops and bottoms, come in different cuts with different cuts and styles that flatter nearly every body type.

> that is why in my next post I will talk about the different cuts to maxi dresses that will suit all body types, this can be applied to all sorts of dresses and tops!

Also something that falls under Bohemian in many cases is the Jumpsuit which is big all year round, except with variations from season to season.

The Jumpsuit

Also known as a - Romper or Play suit. They are always one piece and either have long past the knee, to the floor or short legs.

This is a short legged play suit or romper with just one shoulder. I love this one because it shows that there are several different kinds. The off the shoulder is an alternative to the haulter or regular shouldered jumpsuits.

Obviously there are more than just black jumpsuits!
As you can see with the amazing bohemian floral jumpsuits below!

NOTE

This year there a lot of sheer, pretty see through jumpsuits and maxis. -

mostly maxis, so i suggest a tiny little, simple sexy dress underneath or a cami and pair of short, short shorts! haha!
Just so that the sexy sheer look isn't lost but you're not being overly risky.

< this one reminds me of Jane Russell's jumpsuits in; Gentlemen prefer blonds, it's black just like hers, it may not be floor length but it's black sophistication really reminds me of her.
So you can dip into the vintage trend with a tasteful, vintage inspired jumpsuit too!

Sophisticated 70's Glamour

This spring and summer like the last few years has been largely influenced by the 70's! In the image bellow the model is wearing the typical pieces of this trend.

* Silk
*High waist trousers/shorts
*Old fashioned, loose fitting blouse

High waisted shorts and trousers with wide legs are going to be huge, whether wide legged jeans or lined, cotton or silk wide legged trousers they all fit in well with the 70's trend.

However some high waisted shorts can feature designs and cuts that give a hint of the vintage look like the shorts bellow.

In the next post I'm going to do a part 2 with more trends like:

Biker
Punk
60's lady like
Lace
and of course
Crochet
as well as accessory trends
